Privacy Policy

PriceRadar is a price-comparison engine. We do not sell anything, we do not take payments, and we do not run user accounts. This page explains exactly what data we touch and what we do with it.

1. What we collect

Almost nothing by default. Browsing PriceRadar does not require an account, checkout, or cart. We do not ask for your name, phone number, address, or payment details — anywhere on the site.

The only personal data we ever receive is what you voluntarily submit via one of these opt-in forms:

  • Price drop alerts — your email (so we can notify you when a price hits your target)
  • Newsletter — your email (weekly digest of biggest NG price moves)
  • “Found it cheaper?” tips — optional email so we can credit you when verified
  • Contact + B2B licensing enquiries — whatever you choose to write in the message

How those submissions are handled is covered in Section 2 below.

2. Voluntary email submissions

When you give us your email via any of the four channels above, we store it in our durable key-value store (Upstash) and use it for the single purpose you submitted it for. Specifically:

  • Purpose limitation: a newsletter email is used only for the newsletter; an alert email is used only to fire your alerts. We do not cross-pollinate, never sell your email, and never share it with retailers or affiliates.
  • One-click unsubscribe in every email we send. Unsubscribe takes effect immediately and deletes the relevant record.
  • Email delivery via Resend (resend.com) — a transactional email vendor that processes your address only to send the email and then drops it. Their data-processing terms are at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Confirmation step (double opt-in) on alerts + newsletter — we email a magic link first; nothing is activated until you click it.
  • Magic-link management page at /alerts/manage/[token] — gives you full pause/delete/edit control without an account.
  • Retention: we keep alert + newsletter records until you unsubscribe, then delete. Contact + B2B emails are retained for two years for the audit trail of any commercial agreement, then deleted.

3. Server logs

Like every website on the public internet, our hosting provider (Vercel) records standard request logs when you visit a page. Each entry contains:

  • Timestamp of the request
  • The page or API path you requested
  • Your IP address
  • The User-Agent string sent by your browser
  • HTTP status and response size

We use these logs only to keep the site running and to defend against abuse (rate-limiting scrapers, debugging errors). Logs are retained for 30 days and then rotated out automatically.

4. Cookies

We set one cookie, and only on a single internal route:

  • audit-tokenan operational cookie used to authenticate access to our internal/auditdashboard. It is never set on normal product pages.

We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, personalisation, or session identification of regular visitors.

5. No third-party analytics or trackers

PriceRadar does not embed Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, or any other third-party analytics or advertising script. There are no marketing tags loaded on this site. You can verify this in your browser's network inspector.

6. Outbound links to retailers

PriceRadar links out to third-party retailers and to third-party travel partners. Each destination site is a separate company with its own data practices.

When you click an outbound link, you leave PriceRadar and enter a completely separate website. From that moment on, the destination site controls what data is collected about you (including cookies, analytics, and any account or purchase data). Their privacy policies — not ours — govern that activity. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any retailer you transact with.

Some of these outbound links are affiliate links. See our Terms of Service for the full disclosure.

7. Your rights under NDPR

PriceRadar operates from Nigeria and complies with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 (NDPR). Under Section 3.1 of the NDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction (rectification) of inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Object to processing or restrict how it is processed
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)

In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is a 30-day IP address log entry. To request access or erasure, contact us using the address below and include enough information (e.g. the IP address and approximate date) for us to locate the relevant log entries.

8. Children

PriceRadar is a general-audience price-comparison site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle data, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact

For privacy questions or NDPR data-subject requests, write to:

TL;DR

We don't run accounts, don't use analytics, and don't set tracking cookies. If you give us an email (alerts, newsletter, tip, or contact form) we use it only for that one purpose, never share or sell it, and one-click unsubscribe takes effect immediately. Server keeps 30 days of request logs for security. When you click through to a store, their privacy policy takes over.
